Silverton High School Grads Come Back to Teach

IMG_4849Evergreen School has experienced some changes recently. With a staff of only four teachers and a student body of 78, even small changes can have a big impact.

The school bid a tearful adieu at the end of last year to long-time teacher Patty Potter who retired after 41 years of service to students and families. At the close of this school year, Evergreen faces the retirement of Barb Parson who leaves after 25 years.

“We miss Mrs. Potter, and we will surely miss Mrs. Parson terribly,” said Co-principal Heidi Ostrom, who shares the principal position with her husband Bob. IMG_4896“They are both dedicated veteran teachers who have given Evergreen so much.”

The school is lucky to have two Silverton High School graduates on the faculty. The first is Casey Murphy, who teaches grades six through eight and has been appointed head teacher. Theresa Stadeli, also an SHS graduate, is new to the Evergreen staff and teaches grades three, four and five. Veteran teacher Michelle Buckley is also a key component of the success of Evergreen’s students. She’s now in her 9th year teaching Evergreen’s Kindergartners.

“While change can be difficult, it opens up new possibilities and we are so excited to welcome a new generation of educators who will allow Evergreen to continue to serve our students well,” Ostrom added.
