Thank You Scotts Mills Teachers

There are a lot of new faces at Scotts Mills Elementary this year with five teachers joining the team. New to the Silverton community from Salem-Keizer Public Schools is Megan Senior who is leading 3rd grade reading and math. Karen Steers and Kelly Satern are co-teaching kinders and Michelle Kennison is heading up grades 7 & 8. Bringing music to the halls is Jean Elliott.

“We love having new ideas and energy to complement our incredible team of seasoned Scotts Mills teachers who have such strong connections with our families and community,” said Jorgenson. “Two of our teachers have 30 years of history and experience with our district and school. That’s a huge benefit as well.”

In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Week on May 8 through 12, here’s what some Scotts Mills Elementary students had to say about their teachers.

“I appreciate Ms. Buchholtz because she challenges us and she’s always nice.” – Else Evans, grade 5.

“I appreciate the rewards Ms. Buchholtz gives us for good behavior. Things like kick ball, extra recess and art.” — Alexa Curtis, grade 6.

“I appreciate Ms. Steers because she adds art to math to make it fun.” – Evelyn Jorgenson, grade K.
