As part of the district’s ongoing effort to prepare all teachers, staff, students and the community for any emergency and establish uniformity with safety procedures, the Silver Falls School District held its annual Safety Week from October 17 – 21. Every school in the district provided emergency training updates to its teachers and staff, held at least one safety drill and sent communications home to parents either written, via voicemail or electronically. Many schools also participated in the Great American Shake Out on Oct. 20 where they practiced “stop, drop and hold on” drills to prepare for a large earthquake.
“Our efforts to improve safety for our students and staff are always evolving and improving,” said Superintendent Andy Bellando. “Our trainings and drills keep us prepared should any sort of emergency arise.”
