There is a new energy at Butte Creek this year according to Principal Kevin Palmer.
“This is one of the best starts to a school year I’ve ever been a part of,” Palmer said. “With 25 percent of staff members either new to the building or their position, there is a lot of excitement and enthusiasm in the building.”
According to Palmer the school has a lot to be proud of. Butte Creek is one of the most diverse schools in the district with 18-20 percent Hispanic students and 25 percent Russian.
With 320 students, Butte Creek is the largest K-8 in the district. The school offers diverse afterschool programs including Russian class, afterschool band with Tim Duffy and a variety of middle school sports programs.
“We are also proud to have had PE everyday for every child for the past four years,” said Palmer. “Next year the law will require this for all schools, but we have been ahead of the game for a while now.”
