“When my kids were younger, I volunteered a lot in their classrooms,” said Roth. “I liked being involved and knowing what was going on. I thought it would be a good idea to be even more involved and to help do things that would benefit kids. With the encouragement of a few teachers, I decided to run for the school board.”
Roth’s oldest daughter is a sophomore at OSU. His youngest is a senior at Silverton High. He is really proud of the district and the staff who work so hard to help Silver Falls students achieve their maximum potential.
“We really have excellent staff, from administration on down,” he said. “Everyone in the district uses the resources available to them to help students succeed. For most of them, this is more than a job. They care about every child and want to see them succeed academically, as well as become good people.”
Roth feels the district does a good job at connecting kids and making them feel like they are a part of something, whether it is sports, the arts or clubs. He also feels the district is good at providing students with the classes and programs they need in order to be prepared for whatever path they take in life, whether it be college or a trade.
“We have really good kids in this district. I am very proud of them and I want to ensure Silver Falls has all the necessary resources to provide our students with what they need to succeed.”
